When WGSN says you should watch a brand, it is not something to be ignored. For those who do not know, WGSN is the world’s bigger forecaster which picks up trends years before it is translated to the streets of the main capitals. Pay attention here for I did not say they are a fashion forecaster. WGSN is actually working in many other fields, including design and lifestyle industries.

Last July I was invited by a friend to visit Francal, the biggest Latin American fair for leather and leather accessories, which brings 1,875 buyers from 79 countries. I left slightly disappointed from only really liking 2 brands I saw. Let me explain myself. Brazil is well known for its savoir faire in leather, meaning there are plenty of leather goods to choose from. There is the cheap and average quality, and then there is the more expensive, hand-stitched and higher attention to detail and quality. If you live in London, it is likely that you own a pair of shoes made in Brazil. Kurt Geiger and Aldo are famous brands that have most of their shoes made in Brazil. Kurt Geiger is sold in most of London’s luxury department stores (Selfridge’s, Liberty and Harrods, to name but a few) and have many stand alone stores all over the city.

What disappointed me was the lack of creativity and shoes that could turn me on. And believe me, they have to be pretty dull for a shoe addict like me to not like shoes. So the 2 brands to come to my attention were the only ones that actually made me want their shoes. I will not mention the first name for a simple reason, despite the shoes being stunning, beautifully executed. The designs were copies of shoes I had seen a season before at the catwalks of NY and European Fashion Weeks or in the catalogues of brands like Jimmy Choo and Nicholas Kirkwood. Yes, they were very desirable but nevertheless I could easily identify the copies.

The second brand was Shoesserie, based in Sao Paulo at the trendy borough of Vila Magdalena. So, it was not surprising when I received a report from WGSN pointing Shoesserie as one of the more interesting brands found in Francal and a brand to watch in Brazil. As I discovered later, it was not the first time Shoesserie was featured in WGSN. It has preeviously been featured at a ‘Where to Shop’ Sao Paulo guide. The Shoesserie shop was one of WGSN crew’s favourite, and was called the place to find ’sexy and colourful’ shoes.

I’m glad to see Brazil’s contribution to fashion is not limited to bikinis and the export of top models !

Shoesserie is the brainchild of Jenniffer Nocceti, fashion designer graduated in LA and based in SP. With her is Ronaldy Fraga who form the design team. The duo is sure to come up with something glamorous and girlie every season.

You do not need to be WGSN to forecast Shoesserie is on the right track. I bought 2 pairs and have a few more on my wish list… Do I need to say anymore ?

Cinderela que não é boba, deve guardar seu sapatinho de cristal numa caixa luxo na sala de seu palácio real. Imagine a bonita perdendo uma crocs (tamanho 33-o número da cinderela), na escadaria de tapeçaria persa no chateau de seu father-in-law-to-be, chato pacas.

E depois de um dia lavando, passando, costurando as meias da madrasta, colocou seu sapatinho superconfortável (ui!) de cristal e saiu de abóbora motor flex rumo ao reino encantado. Para não contestarmos mais o poder de um bom salto, as recalcadas (muito minha avó falar isso) de suas irmãs postiças e madrasta não reconheceram Cindy! E olha que ela tava só no coque banana e um vestido que a fada madrinha arrumou na permuta com o pessoal da rua São Caetano porque o mundo encantado estava passando por uma recessão braba.

E assim continuo insistindo que Cinderela por baixo de todo seu frescor primaveril, desbancou um reino todo, tirou o pé da lama, melhor, do borralho, fisgou o principe e viveu feliz pra sempre, tudo por conta de um bom scarpin deixado estratégicamente no seu gran finale no arrasta-pé real.

E quando me bater aquela priguicinha matinal, tipo: "Ai salto, nesse frio/chuva/calor/maremoto/vendaval!" Vou me lembrar de Cinderela, que se equilibrou no cristal e hoje só compra shoesserie, porque cristal é muito 1800.

Led Zeppelin were an English rock band formed in 1968 by Jimmy Page (guitar), Robert Plant (vocals), John Paul Jones (bass guitar, keyboards) and John Bonham (drums). Tirtoff was born Roman Petrovich Tyrtov (Роман Петрович Тыртов) in St. Petersburg, Russian Empire, to a distinguished family with roots tracing back to 1548. His father, Pyotr Ivanovich Tyrtov, was a Russian Fleet Admiral.

In 1910–12 Romain moved to Paris, France, to pursue a career as a designer. This decision was made over strong objections from his father, who wanted Romain to continue the family tradition and become a naval officer. Romain assumed his pseudonym to avoid disgracing the family. In 1915 he got his first substantial contract with Harper's Bazaar magazine, and went on to an illustrious career that included designing costumes and stage sets.

Erté is perhaps most famous for his elegant fashion designs which capture the art deco period in which he worked. His delicate figures and sophisticated, glamorous designs are instantly recognizable, and his ideas and art influence fashion into the 21st century. His costumes and sets were featured in the Ziegfeld Follies of 1923, many productions of the Folies Bergère, and George White's Scandals. In 1925, Louis B. Mayer brought him to Hollywood to design sets and costumes for a film called Paris.[1]There were many script problems so Erte was given other assignments to keep him busy. He designed for such films as Ben-Hur, The Mystic[2], Time, the Comedian[3], Dance Madness[4] and La bohème[5].

By far his best known image is Symphony in Black,[6] depicting a tall, slender woman draped in black holding a thin black dog on a leash. The influential image has been reproduced and copied countless times.

Erté continued working throughout his life designing revues, ballets and operas. He had a major rejuvenation and much lauded interest in his career during the 1960s with the art deco revival. He branched out into the realm of limited edition prints, bronzes and art to wear. Museums around the world purchased dozens of his paintings for their collections.

A sizable collection of work by Erté can be found at Museum 1999 in Tokyo.

Adoro as coisas que não fazem o menor sentido. Mas isso aí é demais pro meu QI, captar. Roubei do shoewawa, como ugly shoe of the week. E tive pesadelos com esse negocio.
